Welcome to the March newsletter, and a warm welcome from your new 2025/26 committee.

New Chair takes control

Hi, I’m Charlotte Richards and have recently been elected as the new branch chair, and have been keen ale drinker since I was 19, which is quite a few years ago now!!!

Over the years we’ve seen the sad loss of some great pubs in our towns and hope that we don't lose more. They are the heart of our community for some and an asset to others.

I would like to say a big thank you to Barry for all the hard work over the last 10 years, Steve and Calvin as well and for all their continued contributions.

This year the committee would like to see how and where we can engage more with you, the membership, and also encourage more younger members into CAMRA.

CAMRA isn’t just about beer, although it does play a big part. We welcome support from all members with beer scoring and even help keeping our pub data up to date. The new CAMRA website has made submitting beer scores much easier, as is giving feedback on pub details. If you’re not sure of how to do any of this then please message us and we will do our best to help.

Beer scoring, it's not just for a short period to get a pub into the good beer guide but to reflect on the quality of beer (cellarmanship). This is not supposed to be just a select few pubs, but across all pubs in the branch area all year round. This then gives a fair representation of all pubs that serve real ale.

Beer scoring outside branch area is also good, it helps branches see how others see how their pubs fair from an outside perspective. Please remember, you are scoring the quality of the beer served and not how much you like that particular beer.

2025 Members Weekend

The annual Members weekend is coming up and there are some motions that will have an impact on our branch, mainly motions to do with the Good Beer Guide. If you want to see what's happening without travelling to Torquay, you can watch the AGM between 9.10am and 10.15am on Saturday 12th April here:

Social Diary

We have two socials planned, 12th April to Hinckley and 10th May to Tamworth (see Diary page for details) so please do come along. There is no obligation to stay all day or visit all the pubs planned with a rough time of heading back to Nuneaton between 5pm and 6pm to make sure everyone can get onward transport home.

Also keep a watch on our social media platforms for any other upcoming beer scoring nights, socials or events, we are on blue sky, Facebook, X and now Instagram.

One last point, if branch members would like to receive updates of what's happening within the branch please can you check and update your contact preferences on the main CAMRA website. This helps us to engage with you. If there is anything you want to be informed about then we are just a message away, please don't hesitate to contact us.
