Cottage Inn - Update

Following the owners (Stonegate) announcement that they are to sell the property. In a post on their Cottage Inn Facebook page, Luke Bratchie has revealed that they have managed to get the Cottage, and the land, registered as Assets of Community Value. This gives local community groups the opportunity to place bids on the property ahead of being listed for sale publicly. Luke also stated that he is fully committed to the Cottage, and that the pub is still very much to him and his family (who lost everything, including personal belongings, in the fire earlier this year) and will do their utmost best to get it back for everyone to enjoy. There is now a s-week interim moratorium (until 3rd Jan.) for community groups to express interest to the North Warwickshire authority. After that date, there is a further 6-month moratorium (until 22nd May) when the owner (brewery) can negotiate, but not complete, the sale. After these 6-months, the owner is free to sell to anyone, and at any price, with no further delays applying for the remaining 18 months of protection.

Meanwhile, in Bedworth … A premises licence, for the sale of alcohol, has been made to Nuneaton & Bedworth Licensing for the Prince of Wakes on Bulkington Road. This is under review as under the Town & Country Planning Amendment Regulations 2020, all pub require planning permission for change of use. Watch this space!

Pubs Officer(s) – to liaise with ALL publicans in the branch area and update CAMRA’s Pub database.
GBG (Good Beer Guide) Co-Ordinator – to ensure CAMRA’s pub database is up to date.
Social Secretary – to organize and publicize branch social events and monthly meetings.
