November 2023
It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Steve Edwards, Coventry treasurer and CAMRA’s Regional finance officer, at the age of 65.
Steve was highly respected within CAMRA and was always available to give advice when needed, none more than when we transitioned from sub-branch to full branch status.

We are pleased to welcome Paul Smith and his partner Ellen Earp as hosts at the Lord Hop.
It is to be expected that they will want to make the place their own, and a raft of changes are in the pipeline, starting with the addition of a coffee & tea vend and changes to their opening hours:
Monday: Closed, Tuesday & Wednesday: 12 - 7pm, Thursday: 12 – 8pm, Friday, Saturday & Sunday: 12 - 9pm.
The Weavers Arms, Fillongley, reopened at the end of October under the watchful eye of Raven Buck who will run be running the the pub in conjunction with his other pubs in Stourbridge and Halesowen.
Eliza Maj becomes the new licensee of the Miners Arms, Stockingford, replacing Brian and Lynne Morris who have retired due to Lynne’s ongoing health problems.
Tim Healy, currently the licensee at the Prince of Wales, Bedworth is due to move on to pastures new.
Planning approval has also been granted for the conversion of The Crown, Nuneaton into 10 self-contained apartments on behalf of Rent-a-Room, who have offices in the nearby former Hollybush.
2024 Pub of the Year & 2025 Good Beer Guide
The search for nominations for the 2024 Pub of the Year (PoTY) and CAMRA’s 2025 Good Beer guide is underway. To help us determine the branch’s most eligible pubs for recognition we need your help.
As it’s not physically possible for us to visit each and every pub in our area as often as we’d like, we depend on our members to join in with this unenvious task by recommending them by submitting scores for the beers they have consumed and the venues they have visited.
Guidance on Beer Scoring can be found in the section: Beer Scoring.
