After 8 years, Neil Ritchie, landlord of the The Anchor, at Mancetter has decided to leave the canalside pub and hand over control to new owners Alan Lawson and Ian Tamplin who have grand plans for the extensive site. More detail are due to be revealed in the new year.
There has also been changes at the Coniston Tavern where we welcome Andrew and Katie Gadsby as new tenants.
Septembers beer festival, organised by Nuneaton Round Table and held at the Nuneaton Rugby Club off Eastborough Way, with 40 real ales, ciders and craft beers carefully selected by Tim Archer of Hinckley’s Elbow Rooms, proving that there is still an opening for a local beer festival.
No sooner than the release of CAMRA’s 50th anniversary edition of the Good Beer Guide, which features seven local pubs, the search for the entrants for the 2024 edition gets underway.
Members are requested to submit their suggestions (to: ku.gro.armac.notaenun@ofni), which along with those that have been highlighted through the Nation Beer Scoring System (NBSS) will be put forward to the members for final selection in the New Year.
Voting on the final selections, for both the Good Beer Guide and Pub of the Year, will take place during February.
Vacancies:
There are a number of committee roles that we would like to appoint - Pubs officer(s), Brewery Liaison Officer(s), Magazine sub-editor and Pub protection officer.
There are also openings for Magazine distributors – to deliver the branch magazine in
(i) Stockingford area (Royal Oak, White Lion, Miners Arms, Sunnyside).
(ii) Hartshill / Chapel End area (Malt Shovel, Plough, Salutation, Windmill etc.)
(iii) Bulkington area (Weston Hall, Olde Chequers & Weavers Arms
