November Newsletter
November 2021
With the clocks being put back an hour at the end of October, we enter the darker winter months and with them come the darker and richer winter ales.
It is also the time of year when we undertake the annual search for our Pub of the Year and selecting our nominations for next years’ Good Beer Guide. Details of the selection criteria and process can be found elsewhere on this website. Members can help with the selection process by submitting their beer scores via WhatPub.com.
LocAle
The Blue Bear in Abbey Street has become the latest addition to the growing list of Nuneaton & Bedworth pubs that have joined CAMRA’s LocAle scheme, featuring a selection of Church End beers.
LocAle is an initiative that promotes pubs stocking locally brewed real ale in order to reduce the number of ‘beer miles’ from brewery to pub cellar and is based on growing consumer demand and an increasing awareness of environmental issues. CAMRA branches around the country can award accreditation to any pubs that regularly stock at least one locally produced real ale.
Some of the benefits of stocking locally produced real ale in local pubs includes:
– pubs can attract more visitors through their doors, including tourists.
– consumers can enjoy greater beer choice and diversity.
– local brewers are supported with increased sales.
– local economy is supported as more money is generated and spent locally.
– fewer beer miles means less impact on the environmental.
